Sauna - Frequently Asked Questions

  • Metal pins, rods, artificial joints or any other surgical implants generally reflect infrared waves and thus are not heated by this system. Nevertheless, you should consult your physician prior to using an infrared therapy.

  • Infrared sauna sessions deliver many of the benefits of a moderate workout including improved flexibility and cardiovascular conditioning that the Journal of the American Medical Association says can burn up to 600 calories per session.

  • Infrared sauna penetrates human tissue by heating the body without warming the air around you. The recommended temperature is between 105 and 130F making infrared therapy accessible to people who can’t tolerate the heat of traditional sauna.

  • Sessions can be customized to optimize cardio, detoxification, pain relief, relaxation, weight loss and skin health which will cause session length to vary. In general, most sessions last 30 to 45 minutes.

  • Infrared therapy leaves you feeling invigorated, not depleted like conventional sauna therapy. With proper hydration, it is safe to do every day. We suggest starting with three 30-minute sessions a week for optimal health and detoxification.

  • We advise you to consult with your own physician before using infrared therapy while pregnant.

  • Individuals who are using prescription drugs should seek the advice of their personal physician or a pharmacist for possible changes in the drugs effect when the body is exposed to infrared waves or elevated body temperature.

  • The sweat produced during infrared therapy is different from the sweat produced during an intense workout. When you sweat during exercise, your nervous system is in the sympathetic mode. During this “water sweat” you only lose electrolytes and water – not toxins. But regular infrared therapy moves the nervous system into a parasympathetic mode, stimulating a “fat-sweat” that helps eliminate the chemicals and toxins stored in the body. Infrared therapy is one of the few ways to detoxify the body of heavy metals and has been shown to be helpful in treating colitis, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, auto-immune disease, autism, ADD and ADHD and more.

  • Hydrate with water or another hydrating drink before and after your session. Do not drink coffee, soda or other sugary or alcoholic beverages.

  • The most effective and comfortable option is our specially designed Body Wrap that provides comfortable, modest coverage while allowing the body to sweat freely.
